Davvero? E tu ti occupi di politica? Ah, No? No? Ah? (Sandra Milo “Piccoli Fans”)

“According to the official press agency, the President will address himself to the Nation. Of course it’s not the first time, in History, that a President speaks to a Country. There. The President will speak. What’s wrong with that? What’s going to happen? If you recognize his voice, you will understand.”

Third stage, after the radio drama “To the Nation” broadcasted by Rai Radio3 on 2011 November 26th, of a long theatre project by Fanny & Alexander dedicated to the speeches addressed to a community, “Speech To The Nation”the radio drama explores the forms and rhetorics of the official political interventions. Playing with the commonplaces of radio oratory and bringing out the potential of words immersed in a deliberately surprising and intricate dramaturgy, Marco Cavalcoli, formerly virtuoso interpreter of the ventriloquist Wizard of Oz, embodies as if in a concert a mysterious President performing, among the many past and present reverberations of an indelible historical memory, an important inaugural address to be pronounced to the Nation.
“Speech To The Nation”, a study for “Grey Speech”, has made its debut in March 2012.
The project on the Speeches includes six shows-monologues in the next 3 years and involves, besides Marco Cavalcoli, the actresses Chiara Lagani, Francesca Mazza and Sonia Bergamasco and the actors Lorenzo Gleijeses and Fabrizio Gifuni.

But I’m not the only one who deserves credit for teaching a million and a half people to read and write on TV. I was just the “television puppet”, the one who aroused people’s interest…
Alberto Manzi, about “Non è mai troppo tardi” (“It’s never too late”)

But what will you do when you grow up? Oh, a veterinarian? Really? And you, do you deal with politics? Oh, no? I thought I heard that you already have a precise view! No? Oh!
Sandra Milo, “Piccoli Fans” (“Little Fans”)

There will be three traffic lights: the green one means that you will immediately take part in the prime time show. One is red: it means out of the show. The yellow one means: you’re still in the running, but we don’t have a clear idea of you.
Maria De Filippi, “Amici” (“Friends”)

What is it about televisual culture that we so hate? Why are we so immersed in it if we hate it so?
(David Foster Wallace)

Discorso Giallo raises some questions on the delicate subject of pedagogical TV. A good or bad teacher, TV? From the original purposes, that is fighting illiteracy and lack of instruction, to the mise-en-scène of good feelings where children, between an anecdote and a little song, are turned into a show of cuteness and amazement for adults and families, up to the meritocratic competitive proposal of talent shows (“Amici”), Chiara Lagani embodies here, as if in a concert, the metamorphic merged figure of an emblematic adult/child, pupil/teacher/host, subject and object of some famous TV shows intertwined and superimposed, crossing some well-known television figures: teacher Alberto Manzi from “It’s never too late”, Sandra Milo and her “Little fans”, up to Maria De Filippi. Yellow as coercion, prohibition: yellow is the color of the referee’s booking card, of the lines on the asphalt that prohibit parking. Yellow-roadworks, a hint of forbidden areas. Yellow-traffic light: wait, limbo. Acid and light. Yellow is a dazzling light flooding into the room, dark at times, of human systems full of possibilities and terrible contradictions.
